I would have liked the RAR download. But as a desktop browser game, I will ditto that it is clean, the controls are responsive (there's even an odd "cling" mechanic not described).
The lighting is neat, but in the ultimate/penultimate puzzle it does play a trick with the right-most square (with a spike sticking out) - at least with my eyes, the square looked orange enough, but when lit looked yellow. (If that was an intentional "look-carefully" trap, it was very subtly done.)
One critique I have is that rebounding from spikes/damage feels inconsistent. Sometimes I get trapped bouncing vertically on the spikes in the left wall and have to move left/toward the wall to get bounced out.
Also, what's up with the ending? It feels like a "missing asset/under construction" terminus. Is there just the one?
Also, what's with that white block with legs?
The game overall feels very minimalistic and looks clean, and using lighting to give life to a static level is a pretty clever idea imo. However sometimes I feel like the particle effects go way overboard. Also, I can't figure out what the yellow tiles do, and it's very confusin whether or not I can stand on it.
Nice game I'll complete it someday
Thank you for your feedback!
The yellow tiles are actually fake, you can't stand on it . Probably the lighting makes the fake one and the real one look similar and make it hard to differentiate them. About the particle effects, I actually found that it is very easy to implement them in the game engine, and I just slap a bunch of them whenever I feel that the level is empty.
Lastly, thank you for playing my game! Have a nice day!
the green tile is very creative and definitely not something I expected! I really wanna play more levels rn lol
I'm kinda in polishing the game right now, adding visual effects, trying to figure out how to make a story for it. You can check my devlogs to have a sneakpeak on what's going on :D
It's hard to visualize between screens. In Jump King, you usually can plan ahead, but in this game you jump automatically so it's a bit hard for me to see both maps. Also, the map seems a bit random. Aside from that, nice game. Nice touch on the audio panning left to right following the character.
Hmm, I actually don't know whether the autojump is a good thing. maybe I can let player choose whether to enable it in the future. I'm really glad that you like the audio panning thing. *laugh nervously as it was some kind of bug that I can't fix it*
hey it's not a bug, it's a feature :D
the auto jumping is a pretty unique idea, i think without it you would just have a normal platformer game. Sometimes difficult controls make for fun gameplay.
